Tango X (1)

Okay, so let’s get this straight. I’ve been waiting for an excuse to get the Original We-Vibe Tango for about 2… maybe 3 years at this point. The place I usually buy my toys from didn’t have the blue model, and my backup store didn’t carry it either. Eventually, one of them got the new generation We-Vibe Tango X, which I had also been eyeing. Needless to say, I ordered it as soon as I saw it in stock.

What's in the Box

Upon opening the rather-minimalistic box, we’ve got the lipstick-shaped vibrator encased in some white plastic-like material. When you take out the toy (and plastic cutout), you’re faced with the remaining contents of the box: a TL;DR instruction pamphlet, a safety instruction manual, USB charging cable, a PJUR lube packet, & an almost-comically large storage pouch. I later swapped out this pouch for the one I had for the smaller one that came with the We-Vibe Melt.

First Glance

First glance made me happy right off the bat - the We-Vibe Tango X is a discreet, tiny vibrator, in my most favorite color. Upon closer inspection, you can see its body-safe materials: ABS plastic for the body & silicone for the handle. This is my first ABS-plastic toy; I’ve heard that this material doesn’t mute the vibrations as much as silicone does.

Upon closer inspection you can see the little buttons on the handle. They stick out just enough for me to be able to tell which is which without looking most of the time.

Charging is a cakewalk thanks to the magnets both on the charging cable and the We-Vibe Tango X. Compared to several other [magnet-charging] toys, I think it’s safe to say that this is one of the stronger ones. A simple bump to my desk or even a light tug to the cable will not disrupt charging. The battery is surprisingly decent for something this small. Charging the We-Vibe Tango X takes about 1.5 hours from empty and usually gives a lil’ less than 2 hours of use. That being said, I tend to use the stronger speeds.

Basic Controls

The controls are simple. There’s 3 buttons on the silicone handle. There's a +, -, and a ~ in between. Press the + button to turn the We-Vibe Tango X on. If you hold the button down, it'll quickly rise up to the top vibration speed, or you can do separate presses to get individual increments. The ~ button shuffles through 7 vibration modes (1 of which is constant/steady, thank God). The - button lowers the strength and turns the toy off if held down. Travel lock can be activated/deactivated by holding the +/- buttons down simultaneously for 2 seconds.

The vibration patterns, as I understand them:

1) steady
2) quick pulses
3) 9 long pulses, 9 short pulses
4) escalating (smooth)
5) escalating (steps)
6) heartbeat
7) 2 long pulses, 3 short pulses

First Trial

Let me put it this way - I’m happy I took my first try with We-Vibe Tango X in the shower. Maybe it’s because I’ve trained my body to squirt easily over the past 2.5 years, but boy is this toy good at pulling them out of me. I’d say it’s on-par with my beloved showerhead. Expectedly, it’s not as good as my [favorite wand], but you can’t really go and compare something this small to that of a full-sized wand.

Anyways. I plopped myself down in the bathtub, spread apart my labia, held the Tango X like a pen, and gently touched it to my clit. Such a lovely sensation. I could feel the vibrations traveling deep into my clitoris and I couldn’t help but keep raising the intensity until I reached the highest. This little device made me squirt about 4 times in the span of 3 minutes. I think that’s a rather decent number.

I also tried using We-Vibe Tango X between my inner labia - simply sandwiching it in between  and letting it vibrate against my vaginal entrance as well as my clit all while practicing my Kegels. Although I thought I would cum just from that… I thought wrong.

Lastly, I inserted We-Vibe Tango X into myself. I can’t be the only one who wanted to do it. Maybe it’s a little taboo, but I didn’t care - I was horny. I don’t think I’d do it again though. It was a little disappointing when compared to using it on my clitoris, and the vibrations felt rather muffled.

I wouldn't really suggest using this bullet on its own internally. Perhaps you can use it in tandem with a slim dildo or some kegel balls with some more success, but on its own, the Tango X is quite uneventful internally. I’ve also seen some dildos that have a place for you to insert a bullet floating around in a few stores, but I don’t own any yet, so this isn’t really my place to talk.

There’s a handful of things I noticed with the Tango X. Firstly, if you press it hard against something or grip it in your hand (even just the handle), the vibrations become noticeably muted. If used for an exceptionally long time internally, it's a little difficult to remove (because it gets slippery, obviously), but it isn't impossible and doesn't "get lost". Please do not use this toy anally; it will get lost as there’s no flared base. If you shake the Tango X up and down, there's an odd weight that shifts in what feels like slow motion within the toy. I don't think anything's broken or loose inside, but it feels outright weird.

What it Feels Like

In short, the Tango X’s vibrations feel like very powerful, high speed throbs. This results in an exceptionally rumbly type of vibration. Rumbly vibrations are quieter and travel deeper into the body than their buzzy counterpart, so that’s two points that I appreciate in this toy. For the record, I despise buzzy vibrations.

Comparisons to Other Toys

I only really have one other toy that’s somewhat similar in type to the Tango X, and that’s the [Hot Octopuss Amo]. Even though both are bullets, their batteries are worlds apart. Side by side, the Tango X can last more than twice as long as the [Amo]. In terms of vibration type, while the [Amo] is, in fact, rumbly, it’s not as rumbly as the Tango X

While the shape of the [Amo's] vibrating tip is appealing, the handle is not, and I don’t even want to think about inserting it into myself - the hard, flat edge is not enticing whatsoever. On the same note, the [Amo’s] plastic handle allows vibrations through it a lot more than the Tango X’s silicone one simply because of the material choice.

For a toy this tiny (and when compared to toys larger than it, actually), the Tango X’s strength is basically unparalleled. I might not have a gigantic collection (we’re nearing x50 toys!), but within it, this is the strongest in its size range for sure. It’s also stronger than many of my full-sized, insertable vibrators. It easily puts my [LELO Smart Wand Medium] to shame.

As mentioned before, because rumbly vibrations travel on lower frequencies, it’s harder to hear than the buzzy counterpart. In terms of emitted sound, the Tango X gets a perfect score from me. I can’t even hear it above my blanket when it’s running on max.

I think the Tango X’s design is basically perfect. I’m happy that the handle is made of silicone because it helps mute the vibrations a little bit, which in turn helps with not losing all feeling in my hand. Many silicone toys can't even do that. It also makes it easier to keep a grip on it when everything’s as slippery as a lubed up  water slide.

Tango X’s lipstick-like shape is good for several things: namely pinpoint stimulation, but also the slightly broader kind as well. I enjoy letting the toy rest between my lips on its own with one side against my clit, the other against my vaginal opening. I like how the handle is slightly rounded, so that upon (although not exactly intended) vaginal insertion, it’s not uncomfortable. Also, thank you We-Vibe for providing us with a blue option once again.

Orgasm/Squirting Notes

I have yet to achieve orgasm with the Tango X - both alone and when paired with others. The fact that my hand gets rather numb with in use and that I have to keep switching it to not drop it (hence, alternating hands between dildo and bullet) turns me off a bit too much. HOWEVER, it is immaculate at ripping squirts out of me. Definitely on-par with my showerhead, but not as good as [my beloved Maximus Wand]. I shouldn’t be comparing a wand to a bullet, though.

Overall Verdict

Overall, I think the We-Vibe Tango X is a fantastic toy. The little thing has a killer battery life, fantastic rumbly vibrations, and most importantly, it’s made of body-safe materials. It knows how to make me squirt almost-on command, but it can’t make me climax on its own or when paired with other sex toys. To those who are looking for a slick, discreet toy that you could toss in your purse - you’ve found it.

  • Has a travel lock, discreet, tiny.
  • Blue!
The bad
  • It hasn't made me cum (yet) on its own or when paired with other toys, but that's understandable with my anorgasmic body.
